Delmonico Mid Century Stereo Console - Updated

I found this 1960's Delmonico Stereo Console on Ebay. Since the stereo and phonograph were beyond repair I decided to revamp it with new components. The cabinet itself was in pretty bad shape and had faux wood finish so I veneered it with walnut wood veneer. Here are the pictures of the process and final result.

The cabinet as it arrived. Lot's of nicks, chips and dings on the faux wood exterior

The above shot shows the interior with the original components being removed

Speaker boards removed and old edge banding removed for replacement

Interior Platform gutted

Walnut wood veneer applied to cabinet exterior
New Platform added for components

Stain applied to new exterior wood

New interior for components. I fabricated a housing to hold the new radio and amplifier. Brass bushing added for wiring. New speakers and speaker grill covers.

Completed cabinet with American Chestnut stain and 5 coats of semi-gloss polyeurathane.

With top open and white interior

New Brik Audio internet radio and amplifier. It has three inputs for playing radio, ipod and phonograph.
The new phonograph is the Essntial II model by Pro-Ject.
